This is by far one of my proudest pieces! It speaks volumes as to where I’m at as an pet artist.
Local Artist Creates Adorable Pet Portraits
First in that I’ve only been doing Pet Portraits for 2 years & this is my 75th! That means I’m averaging 3-4 paintings a month! How cool is that?
Second, two years ago I was using a simple wall paper background, which people seem to love, but to me, it wasn’t enough, so I started to branch out & create a different brand. I used to be the Artist that asked my clients to tell me exactly what they wanted. Now I am on a different journey where I am able to envision a piece w/o input. I was given complete Artistic Freedom on this piece.
My own unparalleled style
Those two words used to scare the heck out me, but honestly now they excite me. The only request was that it be “rescue themed”. What the heck is that? I thought. So I thought, why not do one of my brick wall backgrounds with “who rescued who?” in graffiti. Than I realized a leather couch didn’t make sense. With that so that’s where I got the idea for the wagon. To me the wagon represents freedom & fun.
The life Henry the white boxer began with may have been unrewarding, but his new life was filled w/ love & laughter & I wanted to represent that. Setting him in a regular wagon didn’t give as much depth as the couch would have, so than I decided to add the wood paneling. I’m not going to lie, I was taking on something that measured beyond what I’ve done in the past, but I am so incredibly pleased & proud of the outcome. I know this intro is lengthy, but I feel it’s deserved, plus I’d like to give insight as to where I’m at as an Artist for myself & my audience.
